Mussoorie, 17 Dec: Teachers and non-teaching staff of colleges aided by the Government’s Umbrella Act in Uttarakhand are demanding the withdrawal of the Act. Teachers and employees of MPG College tied black ribbons and raised slogans against the state government at the college gate and demanded that the amendment made to the Umbrella Act be withdrawn immediately.
The teachers said that the Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ is from Uttarakhand and should immediately withdraw the amendment, which could cause problems regarding grant for aided colleges. If this happens, the salary and all other expenses of teachers and non-teaching staff in aided colleges would be directly impacted. It would also impact the students as well because their fees would increase.
Present on the occasion were Dr VP Chaudhary, Dr Pramod Bhartiya, Dr Amitabh Bhatt, Dr Ganga Sharan, Sanjay Sharma, Satish Uniyal, Savita, Ajay Kumar, Rajendra Singh, Ummed Negi, Sanchin, Ashok Sajwan, Rameshwar Bhatt, Satish Chand Uniyal and others.
