Dehradun, 24 Jul: Health Minister Subodh Uniyal today held a detailed discussion with senior officials at the Secretariat regarding various aspects of the proposed Tehri Medical College. The meeting focused on land selection and the framework for construction. Speaking at the meeting, Uniyal observed that the proposed medical college would be built at a location where the maximum population could benefit from its services. He emphasised that the establishment of the college would expand health facilities in the region, provide better medical services to the people and strengthen the overall health infrastructure. He added that the project would prove highly beneficial not only for Tehri district but also for the adjoining areas.
Uniyal also added that the construction of the medical college would improve healthcare in the remote regions and create new opportunities of employment and self employment for the local youth. He said the college would be developed with modern facilities under a comprehensive master plan. He reiterated that the land selection process for the project has been completed and stressed that the establishment of the medical college would mark a new milestone in the health sector, giving fresh strength to medical education and healthcare services in the state.
During the meeting, Health Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey directed the District Magistrate of Tehri to promptly submit the proposal related to the selected land to the government so that the implementation process of the project can be expedited. Additional Secretary Rohit Meena was also present on the occasion.
