Tehri Police conducts Disaster Management Drill in Kempty

Mussoorie, 16 Nov: Tehri Police conducted a disaster management drill at the Kempty Police Station under the leadership of Tehri SSP Tripti Bhatt in collaboration with the Fire Service, Forest Department, the Himalayan Adventure Institute and local officials.
Addressing this training programme, the officials said that it is very important for everyone to be aware of earthquakes. The impact of an earthquake is extensive and it cannot be predicted. The effect of earthquake can be reduced by constructing safe buildings and adopting safe behaviour. Officers and employees were given detailed information about disasters, responsibilities, relief-rescue, first aid, etc. The officials were asked to be alert from moment to moment regarding disasters, their various types, responsibility of the disaster management system, relief and rescue.
The mock drill provided training in how the departments concerned should work in coordination with each other at such times. The use of equipment was also taught. On this occasion, the SDRF team provided detailed information through demonstrations to the local people about safe evacuation and basic medical response status, methods of making stretchers from local resources, methods of primary education, etc.
Naveen Jural (SHO), UN Bhanwar Singh, UN Neelam, HC (Prof) Shishpal Singh Chauhan and Sandeep Yadav (LFM), Mahendra Singh Chauhan and Vikram Tomar from Fire Service, Tehri, Himalayan Adventure Institute’s Deepak Semwal and the local village guard were among those present on the occasion.
