Rishikesh, 16 May: Executive Director, THDCIL, HL Bharaj met Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh on Wednesday and apprised him about details of CSR work being done by THDC in its main functional area of Tehri District.
In view of limited CSR funds with THDC and growing expectations of project affected families and society at large, the joint partnership projects being done by THDC in Tehri District rehabilitation colonies were also explained to the Chief Secretary.
CMD, THDC, DV Singh’s greetings were also conveyed to the Chief Secretary, along with information on the best practice details and year wise CSR spending by THDC.
A copy of ‘10 years of enlightening lives’, recently released by Dr Madhukar Gupta, Union Additional Secretary, DPE, at the first CSR Day celebration (at Rishikesh on 9 May) was also presented to the Chief Secretary by Executive Director Bharaj.
It was stated that THDC had, so far, spent CSR funds amounting to Rs 158 crore, out of which Rs 115 crore have been spent in Tehri District, alone, and more than 60 % of annual CSR budget has been spent on Health & Education. Three schools at Tehri project/ Koteshwar project and Rishikesh having 882 needy and under privileged students are getting free dress, books, shoes, midday meal, etc., a Rs 6 crore annual liability. Furniture has been provided to 222 schools of Tehri. Convergence in health care camps with help of THDC doctors, AIIMS doctors, Nirmal Eye doctors is regularly done in consultation with the district administration. One allopathic dispensary and 5 homeopathic dispensaries, altogether, have recorded 7,91,704 OPD visits, so far, in Tehri/Koteshwar and Rishikesh. For farming, dairy development, agriculture, horticulture, THDC has brought in Rs 810 lakhs of funds in addition to 2 % CSR of THDC.
The Chief Secretary took very keen interest in THDC CSR and congratulated the company leadership on the ‘10 years of Enlightening Lives’ booklet.
