Mussoorie, 7 Jun: Due to the huge rush of tourists here huge traffic jams were seen at each and every crossing in this hill town, particularly at Library Chowk, Picture Palace Chowk, the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti Road, Mussoorie-Tehri Bypass and Kempty Taxi Stand, with long queues of vehicles seen on both sides of the road, stranding tourists and locals for many hours.
The locals alleged that due to the incomplete homework and improper line of action taken by the officials of Mussoorie Police, the traffic jams are recurrent features. Many meetings under the leadership of senior officials had been held every year and instructions given by them to officials concerned but none had been implemented, creating many problems for locals and tourists coming from all over the world.
They further demanded that SSP, Dehradun, take strict action to resolve the problem and against police officials involved in corrupt behaviour. A tourist from Delhi, Sandeep Jindal, and Deepak Kapoor from Punjab, expressed their concern at the traffic jams. They said they had been stuck in jams for more than four hours facing lots of problems. They alleged proper arrangements had not been made by local and municipal administrations.
