DEHRADUN, 30 Nov: The Uttarakhand government has released a second transfer list of IAS officers within last 24 hours. However, in the second list, the responsibilities of only three IAS officers have been amended. The most notable transfer in the second list is that of IAS Officer Nitin Bhadauria who has been transferred as District Magistrate (DM)( in district Udham Singh Nagar. He was presently posted as Additional Secretary Urban Development in the state administration in place of Uday Raj who attains superannuation on Saturday.

IAS officer Gaurav Kumar, presently posted as Municipal Commissioner of Dehradun Municipal Corporation has been posted as Additional Secretary Social Welfare in the state administration. Interestingly, no one has been posted in his place as Municipal Commission of Dehradun which is a crucial post in view of the fact that at present, there is no elected board in place in urban bodies and they are under administrative control of administrators/district magistrates. Hence, it is expected that someone will soon be posted in this slot which has fallen vacant on account of Gaurav Kumar’s transfer. The municipal elections are likely to be held by the end of December.

District Magistrate of Udham Singh Nagar is a high profile and high in demand posting along with the post of DM Dehradun, DM Haridwar and DM Nainital.  Sources claimed that several eligible IAS officers were lobbying for the post of DM Udham Singh Nagar but in the end, Bhadauria managed to get posted there. Few IAS officers manage to get a full two-year term as DM Udham Singh Nagar as many political factors and considerations work in the posting of DM Udham Singh Nagar. It may also be recalled that earlier, Uday Raj received a 3-month extension on his retirement. Apart from the post of District Magistrate of Udham Singh Nagar district, transfers have also occurred for other posts. In the transfer list released a day ago, the responsibility of Director General Agriculture and Horticulture was taken back from Ranveer Singh Chauhan, but within 24 hours, this responsibility has been re-assigned to him. It may be recalled that on Friday several IPS, IAS, PPS and PCS officers were transferred as well.
