Dehradun, 11 Jun: A man has been cheated of Rs 1 crore in a fake land deal. The victim, Chandra Shekhar Latwal, a resident of Dehradun, has filed a complaint against two individuals for duping him under the pretext of selling land.
As per the complaint, Chandra Shekhar first met Virendra Singh Ragola, who claimed to be a property dealer. Virendra later introduced him to Deepak Sharma, who said he was the owner of a plot of land. Deepak also introduced Rakesh Mishra as his associate.
Deepak Sharma told the victim that he was a senior officer in the Uttarakhand government and currently working at Uttarakhand Technical University. He showed Chandra Shekhar a plot in Mauza Chalang, Parwadun, and said it was available for sale. Trusting them, Chandra Shekhar signed an agreement on 21 November 2023 and paid Rs 1 crore as advance through cash and RTGS.
The agreement said that the sale deed would be completed within six months. But even after seven months, no sale deed was made. Later, Chandra Shekhar found out that Deepak Sharma and Rakesh Mishra were not the real owners of the land.
The victim has alleged that both men cheated him in a planned way using fake documents and false claims. He said they even admitted to running a business of cheating people like him. The complaint has been filed at Rajpur Police Station, and police have started an investigation.
