Dehradun, 11 Jun: Five Bangladeshi nationals who were living illegally in the city have been deported by Doon Police. They were arrested on 20 and 21 May from the Patel Nagar area during a joint operation conducted by Dehradun Police and the STF.
Police officials said that more Bangladeshi nationals have been caught, but these individuals have a criminal background and are currently in jail. The five who were deported had no criminal charges and were sent back to Bangladesh after completing legal procedures.
According to the police, they are working with the BSF (Border Security Force) to complete the deportation process quickly, under the instructions of SSP, Dehradun.
Earlier, on 20 and 21 May, Dehradun Police and STF (Special Task Force) had arrested five people — four women and one man — from the Patel Nagar area. Before their deportation, all of them were kept at a detention centre in Haridwar.
During questioning, it was found that all of them were citizens of Bangladesh and were staying in India without valid documents.
After confirming their identities, the police started the legal process to deport them. A special police team was formed for this work. The police kept in touch with senior BSF officials and followed all the instructions given by the Government of India.
On 10 June 2025, the five Bangladeshi nationals were taken to the Bangladesh border with the help of the BSF. There, they were handed over to the Bangladeshi agency.
Police said this is part of a larger verification drive being run by it to find and take action against people living illegally in the city.
