Dehradun, 26 Nov: A Mega event was organised at Law College, Uttaranchal University, on the occasion of Constitution Day, here, today. Padma Bhushan recipient Dr Anil Prakash Joshi was the Chief Guest. At the outset, flowers were showered at the University Shourya Wall, accompanied with raising of patriotic slogans. A mega blood donation camp was organised on the occasion in which five blood banks collected blood from the donors. The camp was managed by the Legal Aid Centre and NSS. Faculty, officers, staff and students of the university enthusiastically participated in the programme and a total of 1287 units of blood were donated, breaking its own record. Many students had to leave without donating blood because of the limited capacity of blood banks.
Uttaranchal University holds the record of 1248 units of blood donation.
The Chancellor felicitated Dr Anil Prakash Joshi for his exemplary achievements. He remarked that Dr Joshi is a true representative of the hills, villages and villagers of Uttarakhand.
Also, the 13th edition of the Journal of Law College Dehradun, ‘Dehradun Law Review’, was released. Dehradun Law Review is the only UGC-CARE listed journal of Uttarakhand.
Dean Prof Rajesh Bahuguna stated that blood donation on Constitution Day has been among the best practices of the College right from its inception.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dharam Buddhi congratulated the teachers, staffs and students on the occasion.
Dr Anil Prakash Joshi spoke about various facets of nature in a historical context. He observed that nature is abandoning humanity because of the diminishing links with the villages. He cited a global report which proclaimed that new cyclones and epidemics are going to engulf this planet for which humans alone are responsible, having deprived animals and birds of their shelters and habitats. He emphasised the need to distinguish between facility and luxuries. “Food, Language and Dress should be our own,” was his mantra for the audience.
