Dehradun, 26 Dec: Given the fact that most of the ministers and the MLAs are now giving top priority to the upcoming assembly elections in Uttarakhand, they probably feel that they do not have time to spare a few days to a session of the state assembly in Gairsain. Some important legislation is likely to be brought by the government as the upcoming winter session is being considered crucial. In this, view, sources have claimed that the winter session is now likely to be held on 9 and 10 December in Dehradun instead of Gairsain, where the session was due to be held on 6 and 7 December.
Official sources further claim that President Ramnath Kovind is also due to visit Dehradun on 1 December and, therefore, the government would have to prepare for his visit. It is being considered that it might be prudent to hold the winter session of the state assembly in Dehradun on 9 and 10 December.
Reportedly, State Parliamentary Minister Banshidhar Bhagat had already spoken in this regard to the Leader of the Opposition, Pritam Singh, and both have reportedly agreed to have the session in Dehradun.
A proposal to hold the winter session in Gairsain in December had been made and submitted to the Cabinet as an agenda point for discussion in its upcoming Meeting, but this has been withdrawn.
