DEHRADUN, 30 Apr: Along with India, the entire world is grappling with the menace of the COVID-19 pandemic. In India, migrant labourers stuck in various cities are among the worst affected. Due to the unavoidable lockdown, they have no source of income and are feeling stranded in a critical situation due to which they have either started walking towards their far-off homes or awaiting aid for sustenance. Finding and implementing a solution to their problems is one of the priority issues being tackled by the Central Government as well as the State Governments. A sense of social responsibility and proactive support by individuals and institutions is the need of the hour.
Educational institutions like Uttaranchal University are constantly setting inspiring examples by coming forward with support and assistance in this hour of crisis. Chancellor of Uttaranchal University Jitender Joshi, along with Om Prakash Gupta and Preetam Singh Rawat, distributed rations to 110 labourers from Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh residing in the construction site of Pearl Heights in Mohit Nagar, here. The ration was distributed in the presence of SDM (Sadar) Gopal Ram Binwal. Binwal expressed his gratitude for the help extended and termed it an example of altruistic support reflecting solidarity with the Government of Uttarakhand in the fight against Covid-19 and its adverse impacts.
