DEHRADUN, 1 Mar: Uttarakhand Council of Science and Technology, during its 13th Congress, released the book, “Glimpses from Survey of India – Covering 250 years” written by Brig KG Behl (Retd), former Dy Surveyor General, Survey of India. It provides information with coloured photographs of important persons, instruments and equipment used, the difficult and rugged terrain full of wild animals, besides providing geographical, historical and cultural aspects of the country during the period. The book shows the big old instruments in comparison to the present day small ones and human computers, who calculated the height of Mt Everest before the electronic gadgets of today. It is a coffee table book printed on Art paper.
The book was released by Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST, Prof Hemkumar Pandey, former Chief Secretary Dr N Ravishankar Prasad, Padma Shri awardee Prof Ravikant, Director, AIIMS, Rishikesh, Prof Hemchandra, Vice-Chancellor, HNB Medical Education University, Maj Gen Anand Singh (Retd) Chairman, UKPSC, Dr VB Mathur, Director, Wildlife Institute, Dr Prakash Chauhan, Director, IIRS. Tarun Vijay, former Member of the Rajya Sabha, was also present. The book was appreciated by all. The book is available at Book World, Dehradun.
