U’khand making rapid progress under Modi’s guidance: Dhami

DEHRADUN, 13 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Dainik Jagran Samvad’ programme at a hotel on Mussoorie Road here on Saturday. Addressing the session as the chief guest, Dhami emphasised that that Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of independent India who has had the opportunity to serve for the longest period with a clear public mandate. He added that during this tenure, many historic decisions have been taken and India has achieved remarkable progress in knowledge, science, education, medicine and sports.
Dhami said that under Modi’s guidance, Uttarakhand too is advancing rapidly in every sphere. The double engine government has become synonymous with development, good governance and public welfare. He noted that Modi’s deep affection for Uttarakhand is evident from the fact that since becoming Prime Minister he has already visited Uttarakhand 28 times. The CM also asserted that PM Modi has brought the border regions into national focus and he recalled Modi’s statement from Mana village that border villages are not the last but the first villages of the country. Under his leadership, the Centre has undertaken several initiatives for the development of frontier areas.
The CM claimed that hat the state government has launched many new initiatives for overall development. More than 2.65 lakh  women in the state have become Lakhpati Didis, with all women in Mana village achieving this status. He mentioned that under Modi’s guidance the winter Char Dham Yatra was started and major events such as national sports and G-20 meetings were hosted in the State. Infrastructure development is progressing across Uttarakhand, boosting the economy through pilgrimage and tourism. In the last three years, over 23 crore people have visited the State. Acknowledging that Uttarakhand is disaster-prone, Dhami claimed that the government has worked to restore normalcy swiftly after calamities, earning appreciation at the global level.
The CM further said that in the last five years the state government has taken several decisions in line with public sentiment. Uttarakhand became the first State in independent India to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). To ensure employment opportunities for youth and transparency in recruitment, a strict anti-cheating law was enacted. Over 33,000 government appointments have been made in the last five years. Dhami further claimed that Uttarakhand has carved out a distinct identity at the national level in many fields.
