Dehradun, 11 Nov: The Centre seems to be satisfied with the efforts made by the Uttarakhand Government in dealing with the Corona pandemic. This was revealed during a video conference held regarding the pandemic under the chairmanship of Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in which Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also participated. Dr Harsh Vardhan observed that Uttarakhand had controlled the infection of Covid-19 to a great extent, but there was no room for any negligence, particularly in view of the ongoing festive season and coming winter. The Union Minister further observed that there was a need to increase public awareness and ensure effective contact tracing and testing.
The Chief Minister apprised Harsh Vardhan of the efforts being made by the State Government in view of Covid-19. He said that, in view of the festive season, special attention was being paid by the state government towards prevention of Corona spread. He said there were enough dedicated hospitals in the state to tackle the pandemic. Along with this, ventilators, ICU beds and oxygen supplies were also available in the hospitals in sufficient quantity. He disclosed that 10 laboratories were testing for the infection in the state at the present. He further disclosed that people were being strictly penalised for not wearing masks or not following social distancing norms. In addition, masks were also being provided to those who were found not wearing them. He added that efforts were also being made to raise public awareness in this regard.
The Chief Minister revealed that, due to the festive season, many people belonging to Uttarakhand were coming home from places like Delhi, Mumbai and other states to celebrate the festivals with their families, due to which the risk of Corona spread was likely to increase. Besides creating public awareness, all efforts were being made towards contact tracing of Corona patients and taking necessary steps to prevent spread of the pandemic during this time.
Secretary, Health, Amit Negi and Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey were also present on the occasion.
