It may be recalled that on 22 October, Secretary and Commissioner of the Transport Department, Brijesh Kumar Sant had held talks with the officials of the United Front of the Transport Corporation employees. During the talks, the situation was clarified regarding the order dated 14 October 2024 issued by the State Transport Authority regarding the issue of permits on nationalised routes. The Secretary informed that no new permits will be issued at present under the said order, removing the confusion among the employees.
Sant also assured that a sympathetic decision would be taken on the other demands of the United Front after consultation with all parties and stakeholders. Following the talks, the convener of the United Front, Ashok Chaudhary, announced the withdrawal of the proposed work boycott plan of the corporation employees. It was decided that a decision would be made today to consider the further direction of the movement.
Today, talks were again held under the chairmanship of Secretary, Transport, during which the officials of the United Front informed him that due to the strike, some drivers and conductors had gone on leave, causing 20 to 25 percent of the services to be disrupted in the morning. However, it was assured that all services would be smooth by this afternoon. After mutual consent between the United Front and the Transport Department, all parties announced calling off the agitation with immediate effect.
The services of the Transport Corporation are now running smoothly, and efforts are being made to alleviate the inconvenience to passengers, the government has claimed.
