Dehradun, 10 Nov: Doon University organised the first University-Industry Conclave under the aegis of Promotion of University Research & Scientific Excellence (PURSE) scheme of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. The conclave was inaugurated today in the presence of Vishwas Dawar (Vice-President, Infrastructure Monitoring Council of Government of Uttarakhand), Dr Sanjay Mishra (Senior Advisor, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India) and Prof Surekha Dangwal (Vice-Chancellor, Doon University).
Prof Surekha Dangwal stated that the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) London is the knowledge partner of Doon University in this Conclave.
Dr Sanjay Mishra (Scientist H & Senior Advisor, Dept of Biotechnology, Government of India) stated that the Government of India has implemented the National Education Policy-2020, and also established Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). Both the policy and foundation have a focus on the establishment of Industry-Academia Collaboration.
Chief Guest Vishwas Dawar informed the gathering that Doon University is the first and only State Funded University which has been identified and selected by DST for support under the PURSE scheme. He mentioned that it is a novel initiative, taken by any University in the State, to hand-hold start-ups.
Research & Development Leaders of many industries from different parts of the nation participated in this conclave to discuss how the connect and collaboration can be established between the University and Industry. Representatives of many Start-Ups of Uttarakhand were also present. They discussed how they can collaborate with Doon University for support and growth.
Dr Anubhav Saxena (President, R&D, Pidilite Industries) and P Rita SanthaKumar (Vice President, Sun Pharma) are the Professors of Practice at the University. They expressed their happiness with their association with Doon University. They said that this type of initiative will lay the foundation for Industrial Collaboration with Doon University. Suresh Ramachandran (Country Head, Arkema India), Ashish Kasad, Dr GS Kapur (Advisor to GAIL India & Former Executive Director, IOCL), Prof Umesh V Banakar (Banakar Consulting Services, USA), and Madhukar Rao Dakinedi (ChemAnalyst) mentioned the new opportunities which can be created after university-industry collaboration.
The organising committee members Dr Arun Kumar, Dr Himani Sharma, Dr Charu Dwivedi, Dr Asha Ram Gairola, Dr Sarita, Dr Vikas Sharma, Dr Shivani Verma, Dr Khushboo, Dr Ujjwal Kumar, Dr Suneet Naithani, Dr Vipin Kumar and Dr Rajesh Bhatt were also present in the inaugural session.
