UPCL receives award under PM Suryaghar Yojana

Dehradun, 21 Jan: The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL) has been recognised by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for its outstanding performance under the PM Suryadhar Yojana for the fourth consecutive year.

During the regional review meeting held in Jaipur, today, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma presented this award to UPCL MD Anil Kumar Yadav, which includes an incentive amount of Rs 9.5 crores. MD Anil Kumar Yadav stated that, under the scheme, solar rooftops have been installed on more than 14,000 houses in Uttarakhand, producing about 50 MW of electricity. Energy Secretary Dr R Meenakshi Sundaram and Additional Secretary Ranjana Rajguru were also present on this occasion.

Commenting on the development, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami observed that Uttarakhand has achieved great success with the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. This scheme not only reduces dependence on traditional energy sources but also improves the economic condition of the people. On this occasion, the CM also congratulated UPCL for this remarkable achievement.
