Dehradun, 21 Jan: The Foundation Days of Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura were celebrated at the Raj Bhavan, here, today. On this occasion, people from these states residing in Uttarakhand presented various cultural programmes related to their respective states.
Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated in the event and extended his warm wishes to the citizens of these states on their Foundation Days. He appreciated the scenic beauty, cultural heritage and folk traditions of the northeastern states and mentioned that he had the opportunity to serve in these states for a long time, creating a deep bond with them. He also shared his experiences and memories from his service.
The Governor emphasised that India’s real strength lies in its diversity. He stated that the traditions, natural beauty, and cultural heritage of the states enhance our unity and pride. He further mentioned that events like Foundation Day celebrations foster cultural exchange and mutual camaraderie, strengthening the unity and integrity of the nation.
The event was attended by First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, Additional Secretary to the Governor Swati S Bhadoria, Finance Controller Dr Tripti Srivastava, and students from these states, including Prithvi Raj, Abhinash, Pritam Jeet Kausham, Risha Devbrahma, Mikkimra Sangma, Tangsaing Sangma, among others.
