Pantnagar, 2 Dec: Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, Fisheries and Cooperatives, Uttarakhand, in partnership with the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), held a first of its kind event in the state – Pashudhan Kauthik – a Livestock Technology Fair & Expo on 1-2 December at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, here.
Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Chief Guest Rekha Arya, Dr Meenakshi Sundram, Secretary, Dr MS Nayal, CEO, ULDB, Dr KK Joshi, Director, Animal Husbandry, Anil Taneja, Director, PHD Chamber, along with other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Arya inaugurated the expo on 1 December. Ajay Tamta, Union Minister of State for Textile and Industry, was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony.
This event aimed to bring together the industry, technology suppliers, farmers and other stakeholders for
networking. Besides, hands-on sessions on animal husbandry activities, with the farmers/livestock owners/potential entrepreneurs being given technical inputs on breeding, rearing, animal nutrition and processing of milk/ meat/ egg and other animal products, fish processing etc.
The Equestrian Show by the University Students and NCC Cadets was one of the attractions of the show. There were other attractions including sheep-shearing competition, livestock ramp walk and competition for the best of categories among bulls, cattle, goats, rabbits, etc. A department sponsored Yak calf named Chandu was the favourite of all. Sumit Lakhotya’s cow won the Best Cow title. He is one of the best breeders of the state.
The Bollywood band, ‘Badshah’, added festivity to the fair. Pratyul Joshi, who belongs to Uttarakhand, is a member of the band.
