DEHRADUN, 6 Jun: A free health camp was organised on Saturday at the Uttaranchal Press Club premises under the joint aegis of the Press Club and the Directorate of Medical Education. In the camp, 142 journalists and their family members availed health check-ups, blood tests and various medical services. Medicines were also distributed free of cost by the department, while several journalists donated blood, setting an example of social responsibility.
Specialist doctors from Government Doon Medical College and Government Medical College, along with the team of the Directorate of Medical Education, provided their services. Tests including blood pressure, sugar, ECG and eye examinations were conducted.

Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, attending as chief guest, said the journalists are vigilant guardians of society and their health is equally important. He appreciated the initiative of the Press Club, stating that healthy journalism is the foundation of a healthy society. Director General of Information and Public Relations Department, Banshidhar Tiwari, said journalists act as a bridge between society and governance and such camps are highly useful for their regular health care. Medical Education Director Dr Ajay Kumar Arya said extending health services to every section of society is a departmental priority and the camp for journalists and their families is a significant step in that direction.
On the occasion, Press Club President Ajay Rana expressed gratitude to all guests, doctors and health workers, affirming that the club continues to work for the welfare of its members and will organise similar camps in future.
The camp saw participation of Chief Medical Officer Manoj Sharma, ENT specialist Dr RS Bisht, orthopaedics specialists Dr Chandrashekhar and Dr Vikrant, general medicine specialist Dr Arun Pandey, gynaecologist Dr Reena Pal, cardiologists Dr Amar Upadhyay and Dr Utkarsh, dermatologist Dr Bhavya Sehgal, ophthalmologist Dr Neeraj Saraswat, blood bank specialist Dr Shashi Upreti, pharmacists Pradeep Semwal, Mahendra Singh Bhandari, Sandeep Singh Rana and Mukesh, among others.
The programme was conducted by Club General Secretary Yogesh Semwal. Health Committee Convenor and Joint Minister Shivesh Sharma, Senior Vice President Gajendra Singh Negi, Junior Vice President Soban Singh Gusain, Treasurer Manish Dangwal, Joint Minister Meena Negi, Auditor Vijay Joshi, Executive Members Manmohan Lakhera, Rashmi Khatri, Manwar Singh Rawat, OP Joshi, Virendra Dangwal ‘Parth’, Himanshu Joshi, Sulochana Payal, Manoj Singh Jayara and other committee members along with a large number of journalists were present.
