Rudrapur, 7 April: Well known Vaidya Balendu Prakash, who has found the use of Copper Mercury Sulfur in the successful treatment of the fatal and deadly disease chronic pancreatitis, has been awarded a patent by the Government of India for 20 years to introduce Gandhak Jarana in a new form in the Rasa Shastra of Ayurveda.
At present there is no cure for chronic pancreatitis and the patients suffering from it keep visiting hospitals from time to time for emergency treatment and have to maintain a strict diet. Despite this, the possibility of premature death due to this disease remains high. The number of patients of this disease, which occurs mostly in the young age, is continuously increasing. In twenty percent cases, it leads to pancreatic cancer.
In the seventies, late Vaidya Chandra Prakash, resident of Meerut, developed the above formula for the first time and established its benefits in pancreas diseases. His son Vaidya Balendu, a honorary doctor of former President KR Narayanan, modified and developed that formula with the help of the best research centers of the country and by establishing Ayurvedic specialized medical centers first in Dehradun and then in Rudrapur for the treatment of patients suffering from pancreatitis diseases. He is also a Padma Shri awardee.
In the Ayurveda health system, a Vaidya, with the help of medicines prepared using good manufacturing practices, is required to certify the treatment of any incurable disease in a scripted manner. This achievement is an innovation in the world of Ayurveda. This patent has been given for the first time to this Ayurvedic medicine. This patent will increase the inclination of the scientific community towards exploiting the alchemy of Ayurveda and its holistic development will enable humanity to get treatment for many incurable diseases. With this, India will be able to play a leading role in the field of pharmaceutical science.
The patent for an ayurvedic medicine is being regarded as a big achievement, ayurvedic experts said.
