Dehradun, 9 May: The Uttarakhand government has asserted that its crackdown on corruption continues, with Vigilance officials arresting the Chief Treasurer and Accountant Treasury, Nainital, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakhs. The action was taken on Friday as part of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directive for strict and swift action against corruption.
Over the past three years, the state government has claimed to have implemented a Zero Tolerance on Corruption policy, leading to the arrest of more than 150 officials, employees, and mafias involved in corrupt practices. Among those arrested were former IFS officer RBS Rawat and IAS officer Ram Vilas Yadav, highlighting the administration’s commitment to transparency.
The government has also taken strong measures against copying mafias, ensuring fairness in the education sector. Under the anti-copying law, over 80 organised gangs and brokers have been arrested, and 23,000 youth have secured government jobs with complete transparency. Since the law’s implementation, no complaints of copying have been reported.
Several high-profile arrests have been made, including officials from Public Works, Electricity, LIU, RTO, Roadways, Education, GST, Excise, and Revenue departments, all caught accepting bribes ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
