Vivekanand Khanduri honoured with Shriram Sharma Prem Memorial Award

Dehradun, 21 Apr: Noted BJP leader and social worker Vivekanand Khanduri was honoured with Shriram Sharma Prem Memorial Award-2023 at a function organised by the organisation Dharatal, founded by well known Hindi poet Dr Atul Sharma. This simple but soulful ceremony was organised at the residence of Khanduri. The award was handed over to Vivekanand Khanduri by Dr Atul Sharma, poets Ranjana Sharma and Rekha Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, leading statehood agitationist and BJP leader Ravindra Jugran today said that the selection of recipients of the Freedom fighter and national poet Shriram Sharma Prem Samman has always been very meaningful and objective and Vivekananda Khanduri richly deserves this awardKhanduri is one deserving example of the type of  social workers and leaders who are seen rarely now. He said that the honour given by the ‘Dharatal’ organisation to Khanduri is in accordance with the dignity of a national poet and a renowned freedom fighter.
Dharatal’s founder Dr Atul Sharma, better known as a Jankavi (Poet of the masses) and poets Ranjana Sharma and Rekha Sharma honoured Vivekananda Khanduri with a shawl and a citation. On this occasion, poetess Ranjana Sharma said that the organisation was proud to be giving this award to Khanduri. She further reminded the gathering that Khanduri has had a long association of over fifty years with Sharma family and is also associated with the social work done by the Dharatal organisation.
Professor Pushpa Khanduri, Head of Department of Hindi, DAV PG College, said that receiving an honour in the name of great freedom fighter and national poet Shriram Sharma Prem is no less than a national level honour. She compared Shriram Sharma Prem with leading poet Suryakant Nirala.
On this occasion, recipient of the awardVivekanand Khanduri said that he is feeling very proud to get this honour. He reminded that he has had the opportunities to visit poet Shriram Sharma Prem. Several great poets of the country have always been coming to his house. He further reminded that he himself along with the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (undivided UP) Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna had visited to see ailing poet Shriram Sharma at his residence and wish him recovery.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharatal’s founder Janakavi Dr Atul Sharma told that so far this honour has been given to former Information Broadcasting Minister Dr Girija Vyas, Vice Chancellor Dr Harimohan (Agra) Doon School’s former Head of Hindi Department Dr Haridutt Bhatt Shailesh, journalist Shri Gopal Narsan, Gangotri Vidya Niketan (Rishikesh) Amitabh Sharma from Nalanda School Shyampur, statehood agitationist Ravindra Jugran, Jagmohan Singh Negi, Pradeep. On this occasion, President of Dharatal Rekha Sharma and Rekha Baduni were also present.
Atul Sharma and family have promoted Hindi literature for long

Dehradun, 21 Apr: Janakavi Atul Sharma along with his sisters has been serving Hindi language and literature since 1970.  Their father Shri Ram Sharma Prem was a nationally acclaimed Hindi poet who had also actively participated in the independence struggle. His popularity can be gauged by the fact that when he was living, leading Hindi writers and poets used to visit the family and among them include poets like Harivansh Rai Bacchan.
Even Dr Atul Sharma is a popular Hindi poet and is popularly known as Jankavi (Poet of the masses). Atul Sharma’s childhood was spent in a literary environment. He himself has a large collection of Hindi poems and has written over 40 books so far. This family of Uttarakhand is dedicated to Hindi, working on writing since decades. Atul Sharma and his family have contributed for Hindi for several decades, which continues unabated even today. His sisters Dr Ranjana Sharma and Rekha Sharma are also well known Hindi writers and teachers.
