Almora, 4 Jan: As directed by the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority and under the orders of Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Almora, Shachi Sharma, vocational training programmes are being organised for inmates detained in the District Jail, Almora.
Its objective is to make inmates self-reliant and integrate them into the mainstream of society.
In the programme, Keshav Dutt Sati, an instructor at the Government Industrial Training Institute, Almora, is providing ten-day plumbing training to male inmates. Meanwhile, Adhikar Mitra Neeta Negi is providing 15-day training to female inmates on making baskets and pen stands from pine leaves.

Last month, District Legal Services Authority, Almora, in collaboration with the Himalayan Unnati Mission provided ten days vocational training on personality development and yoga to male inmates at the District Jail. This training was provided by instructor Bhavesh Pandey and his colleague while female inmates received fifteen days of vocational training in sewing from Adhikar Mitra Neema Binwal and Bhavana Tiwari.
Secretary, DLSA, Shachi Sharma stated that, during this month, ten days each of vocational training on motor mechanics and electricians for male inmates and fifteen days vocational training of knitting for women inmates will also be organised in the District Jail by the District Legal Services Authority.
