Volleyball Competition held to celebrate Basant Panchami



DEHRADUN, 11 Feb: To mark the celebration of Basant Panchami, Gram Utthan Evam Sangathan Samiti, Raipur, organised Volleyball and Kite Flying Matches at Mehtowala Ground, today.
The Volleyball matches were played between four teams, namely Vijyanta Club, Vikranta Club, Shivalik Club and Brothers’ Club, Raipur. Brothers’ Club won the contest by scoring in the best of three. It defeated Vikranta Club by 25-14 and 25-22.
The winners and runners-up team were awarded with a trophy and a cash prize, each. They were also presented mementos by the Samiti.
Saurabh Rana was awarded the Best Player title in Volleyball while, in the Kite Flying Competition, Himanshu was awarded the first position. Divya and Varun Joshi were second and third, respectively.
The President of the Samiti, Kamal Kant Sharma, said, “For the past so many years, our organisation has been holding state and national level volleyball competitions in Raipur area. Apart from this, wrestling, Ramleela and Holi are some of the festivals organised by us that have gained popularity.”
Present on the occasion were members of the Samiti along with Raipur Parshad Kapil Dhar, among others.
