Dehradun, 16 Jun: Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) Library System in collaboration with National Academy of Sciences, India, (NASI) Uttarakhand Chapter organised a workshop on “Scopus: As a Citation Tool and Research Evaluation Indices (Impact Factor, Cite-Score, h-index, g-index, i-10 index, i-20 index & Altimetric”, for faculty members, research scholars and students of Swami Rama Himalayan University on 14 June.
This workshop catered to the research needs of students/researchers and faculties and aimed to sensitise them about the importance of Scopus in scientific research.
The workshop started with a warm welcome note and brief introduction about the workshop by Prof Yogendra Singh, University Librarian, Swami Rama Himalayan University. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Vice Chancellor, Swami Rama Himalayan University, and addressed by Dr Vijendra D Chauhan, Director General, Academics and Development.
The workshop started with a talk by Prof Yogendra Singh on various aspects of Scopus, such as the basics of searching techniques. He also covered Journal level metrics, Author level metrics, CiteScore, Altmetrics and finer aspects of Scopus searching.
Dr Nitin Ghoshal from Elsevier spoke about Scopus as a Citation Tool.
Thereafter, presentations, interactive discussions and Q&A sessions provided participants with the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers, seek clarification on complex topics, and share their own perspectives and experiences followed by a simple test.
Approximately, 70 participants were present including PG students, Research Scholars and faculty members of HIMS, HSST, HSMS and HSPS.
In the valedictory session, Prof Yogendra Singh awarded certificates of appreciation and cash prizes to the top three winners.
Library staff Dr Nupur Srivastava, Abhishek Pandey, Ajay Bangari, Inder Pal Singh and Kailash Uniyal were also present.
