Dehradun, 30 Jan: A workshop on “Principles and Process of Public Procurement” was organised at Doon University, here, on 29 January. During the workshop, university officials and employees were trained on procurement rules and procedures by Dinesh Singh, Stores and Procurement Officer at IIP, Dehradun. He emphasised that the procurement process in public institutions must comply with government regulations. The rules clearly outline transparency and audit procedures, ensuring that purchases made through these processes reflect the institution’s transparent system. He elaborated on procurement procedures, transparency, accountability, and effective procurement management.
More than 50 employees, including those from various administrative departments, accounts, audit, and other non-teaching staff, participated in the programme.
In her message, Vice-Chancellor Professor Surekha Dangwal stated that the university is committed to establishing a transparent administrative system and a disciplined academic environment. She emphasised that efforts are being made to provide necessary training to every university member as per their roles so they can adapt to changing scenarios and perform their duties more effectively.
On this occasion, University Registrar Durgesh Dimri welcomed the guests, and IQAC Director Professor HC Purohit proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by the university’s Stores and Purchase Officer, Dr Rajeev Ahluwalia. Assistant Registrar Rohit Joshi and Devendu Rawat were also present. Participants discussed key points to make the public procurement system more effective and transparent. They actively engaged in the Q&A session, seeking expert insights and practical knowledge.
The university administration affirmed its commitment to continuing such informative sessions in the future.
