Wynberg Allen team wins Debate at Brooklyn School

Dehradun, 11 Jul: Brooklyn School hosted the Frank Anthony Memorial All-India Inter School Debate Competition 2019. The event saw participation of 11 teams from the city and other parts of Uttarakhand. The topic for the debate was ‘Education fosters Democracy’.
Principal Manju Grover welcomed the students and guests. Chief Guest & Moderator of the competition was Prof (Dr) Durgesh Pant, Director, Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Organisation. He addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to be positive, constructive and confident while on stage. The debate was adjudged by an eminent panel comprising Puja Thapa, Department of English, Col Brown Cambridge School, Deepti Kumar, English Faculty, Welham Girls School, and Shalini Rawat, Principal, Graphic Era World School.
The clarity on subjects and eloquent speaking were highlighted of each individual debater. After an intense battle, Shivangi Saklani of Ann Mary School was adjudged the Best Speaker, while Nikita Arya of Wynberg Allen School was the Runner-Up.
Nikita Arya and Yuvraj Chauhan of Wynberg Allen School bagged the Winning Team Award. Khushi Chawla & Shivangi Saklani of Ann Mary School bagged the 1st Runner Up Team Award.
Amisha Bisht and Rishita Rawat represented Brooklyn School in Category I, while Aishwarya Sachdev and Mannan Sharma represented in Category II. The event was anchored by Apeksha Thapa of X-Sc. Time Keepers of the Debate were Prachi Kandpal and Nancy Sawariya of Class XI-Sc. The vote of thanks was proposed by Priyanka Anand.
Principal Manju Grover distributed the prizes. Also present at the event was Director Nitin K Grover. The competition is organised every year in honour of Frank Anthony, a pioneer in the field of education.
