Youth Welfare Officer caught accepting Rs 35,000 bribe for approval of grant for floriculture

Haridwar, 18 Aug: the Vigilance Establishment today arrested Regional Youth Welfare Officer Kuldeep Kumar red‑handed while accepting Rs 35,000 as bribe for advancing a government grant file related to floriculture. The officer, son of Ramesh Chandra and a resident of Adarsh Colony, Laksar, in Haridwar, was presently posted at Narsan block in Haridwar. He was apprehended during a trap operation after verification of the complaint.

According to the Vigilance officials, the complainant, who runs a Youth Mangal Welfare group engaged in flower cultivation, had applied for government subsidy. In order to advance the file for further necessary action, Kuldeep Kumar allegedly demanded Rs 35,000 from the complainant. The complainant reported the matter to the Vigilance Establishment, which after confirming the allegations, laid a trap and caught the officer while he was receiving the bribe amount today.

Following the arrest, Vigilance officials began detailed interrogation of the accused and initiated further legal proceedings. The trap team is also examining evidence and related documents connected with the case.
