DEHRADUN, 25 Sept: On Monday, the 12th foundation day of Swabhiman Center, established by Cantonment Board Dehradun for entertainment and pastime of senior citizens was celebrated in Garhi Cantt. Governor Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd) was present as the Chief Guest.
On this occasion, the Governor inaugurated the Ayurvedic ‘Panchkarma’ center established in Garhi Cantt to provide Ayurvedic treatment. Plastic waste has been used in the walls of this center. He appreciated this innovative initiative and said that not only will the waste plastic be put to good use, but it is also eco-friendly.
He also inaugurated the ‘Practice Centre’ for the candidates preparing for competitive examinations. Here candidates will be able to prepare for competitive examinations. They have been provided with a peaceful and conducive environment for studies, so that they can prepare with full attention. Governor Singh also appreciated the idea of opening Ayurveda centers and practice centers and said that many people would benefit from the opening of these centers.
Lt-General Singh congratulated the administration of Cantonment Board Dehradun for providing comprehensive facilities to senior citizens such as fitness, recreation area, library, music and birthday/anniversary celebrations. He said that the way the programs were presented by the senior citizens with zeal and enthusiasm shows that we should be happy every moment. It is important to be happy in every situation. He said that the youth need to learn from this.
Programs were presented in the cultural evening by the senior citizens of Swabhiman Kendra, which started with Saraswati Vandana and was followed by welcome songs, group dance, short plays, etc. The people present thoroughly enjoyed the programs of the cultural evening.
On this occasion, First Lady Gurmit Kaur, Chairman Cantt Board Brigadier Anirban Dutta, CEO Cantt Board Abhinav Kumar, all the members of the Cantonment Board and all the senior citizens of Swabhiman Kendra were present.
