Dehradun, 6 May: Fifteen teachers were felicitated today at the Biennial Convention of the All India Kendriya Vidyalaya Teachers’ Association, Dehradun Division, with the prestigious “Dev Bhoomi Teacher Ratna Award” for their significant contributions to the field of education.
Prior to the ceremony, tribute was paid to the teachers and staff of the Central Schools who succumbed to COVID-19.
The inauguration of the event, held at the Central School, Hathibarkala, auditorium, was done by the Chief Guest, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, who expressed pride in recognising the teachers through the AICTE and emphasised the importance of educators in voicing the concerns of employees to the Union Government and proposing solutions for other amenities. He praised Central Schools as among the nation’s finest educational institutions. He assured the teachers of raising the issue of the unresolved cashless Indian government health scheme in the Rajya Sabha.
Among the teachers honoured were Ghanshyam Badal from Roorkee, Ashok Ojha from Pithoragarh, B Ram from Almora, Pradeep Kumar Singh from Upper Camp, Devendra Singh from Birpur, Kavita Zinde and Jaykumar from IMA, Viraj Yadav from FRI, Sanjay Kothiyal from HBK2, Arvind Kumar from ONGC, Archana Kumar from IIP, Paritosh Bahuguna from OLF, Sanjay Sharma from New Tehri, Gajendra Singh from Gopeshwar, and Sanjeev Upadhyay from Raiwala. They were awarded the Dev Bhoomi Teacher Ratna Award 2024 for their commendable contributions to education, social, sports, and cultural sectors. Additionally, from Delhi, retired Supervisor Secretary Narayan Lal was honoured with the Teacher Ratna Award for his pre-retirement struggle on behalf of teachers.
On this occasion, special guests, including Principal Basanti Khampa from Dehradun division, Central Supervisor Narayan Lal, Election Officer Sanjay Gusain, National Deputy Treasurer Abhay Srivastava, Advocate AS Kapoor, DM Lakhera, Nabeel Ahmad, DP Thapliyal, Rajendra Bhandari, Piyush Nigam, Anoop Chaudhary, Rajesh Kukreti, Virendra Bhandari, Gajendra Singh, Ravish Kala, Uday Chaudhary, along with representatives from many schools were also present.
The process of forming the new executive committee took place after ceremony. The newly 25 member elected executive of AIKVTA body members comprise President Nabeel Ahmed, Vice President DP Thapliyal, Devender Singh, General Secretary DM Lakhera, Assistant General Secretary HQ Piyush Nigam, Vice President MK Mittal, Gajendra Singh, Pradeep Kumar, Naveen Chaudhary, Guman Singh, Assistant General Secretary BS bhandari, Kavita, Uday Chaudhary, Sanjay Sharma, Ram Chandra, Barkha Ratan, Secretary, Organisation, Kunwar Singh Bisht, Secretary, Press and Publication, Rashmi Kunwar, Pinky, Secretary, Academics, Sandeep Kandwal, Secretary, Welfare, VK Singh, Treasurer Rajendra Singh Bhandari, Charan Singh, Auditor Vijay Sharma and Ravish Kala.
