Dehradun, 4 Apr: Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande held a press briefing at the Secretariat media centre here, today, at which he stated that all the necessary arrangements are being made by the Election Commission of India to ensure peaceful and fair elections. This includes deployment of police force at polling sites, observers, micro-observers at booth level, randomisation of polling parties, deployment of sector officers and other necessary arrangements.

Jogdande shared that instructions have been given by the Election Commission that webcasting should be arranged in 50 percent of the polling stations in the states. In pursuit of this instruction, webcast will be taken up in 5,892 out of a total of 11,729 polling stations in Uttarakhand.  Whatever events that happen at the polling stations on the day of voting, information about them will reach the ARO through live streaming. In case any problem arises at the polling booths, the presiding officer and polling agent can directly talk to their ARO and register a complaint with their district level election officer. Teams have been prepared for webcasting at the district level. The first round of training of webcast teams has also been conducted. A control room for webcasting will be created at the district level. A control room will also be prepared at the state level, through which arrangements will be made for live streaming of webcasting in 5 Lok Sabha seats of the state.

The Additional Chief Electoral Officer added that better efforts have been made this time in coordination with the medical department to provide medical services to the personnel deployed at all 11,729 polling stations. For this, it has been decided to have cashless treatment. This facility will be provided to all the state employees associated with elections in the state and also to the employees of other states. Listed private and government hospitals have been taken under this system. Booth level health management plan has also been drawn up to decide which facility and health centre the polling parties need to contact in case of any such requirements. Information about the medical officers in-charge of all the district hospitals, community and primary health centres of the state will be available to all the polling parties. Information about which police station and fire office to contact in case of emergency and nearest ambulance and helipad will also be shared with the polling parties.
