Dehradun, 18 May: On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in view of the convenience of the pilgrims coming for Chardham Yatra, Secretary to Chief Minister and the Garhwal Commissioner, Vinay Shankar Pandey conducted an inspection of the Char Dham Yatra office in Rishikesh today.
He said that keeping in mind the convenience and interests of the devotees, as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, arrangements have been started to register the prescribed number of people who have come to Uttarakhand without registration and send them on the yatra. Under this arrangement, 800 pilgrims were sent from Rishikesh on Saturday for Chardham Yatra. He said that those who are currently outside the borders of Uttarakhand will be sent on the journey only after online registration. He made it clear that the special arrangement has been made only for those pilgrims who have already arrived in the state and are awaiting registrations in order to commence their Yatra.
During the inspection, Pandey directed the officials to ensure that for the convenience of the passengers, two accessible toilets located at the Travel Office, Rishikesh, where the process of registration of passengers is in progress, will be made available to the passengers free of cost. No fee will be charged from the passengers and whatever payment has to be made to Sulabh International Organisation for this will be borne by the state government.
On this occasion, Director General Information, Banshidhar Tiwari and officials related to travel arrangements were present.
