Portals of Rudranath temple open amid Vedic Chants

Chamoli, 18 May: Portals of Lord Rudranath temple where the face of Lord Shiva can be seen opened today amid Vedic chants and due rituals. The winter seat of Lord Rudranath is in the temple of Lord Gopinath located in Gopeshwar. From here, the palanquin of Lord Rudranath had left for Rudranath on 16 May. After taking night rest at two stops, the Dev Doli reached Rudranath temple yesterday. Lord Rudranath is known as the fourth Kedar and the portals of the Rudranath opened today. The Yatra for Rudranath is considered to be a very difficult trek and one has to walk a distance of 22 kilometres from Sagar village near Gopeshwar to reach the temple.
It is believed that Shiva had given darshan of his face to the Pandavas in the Rudranath temple, considered as the fourth Kedar among the Panchkedaras or the Five Kedars.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that the portals of the Lord Madmaheshwar temple, considered to be the second Kedar will open on 20 May for the current season. The doli of second Kedar Lord Madmaheshwar has left for his Madmaheshwar Dham from Omkareshwar Temple which is the winter abode of Lord Madmaheshwar and will reach the destination on 20 May in the morning and on the same day, the portals will be opened for darshan of devotees. Today, the doli of Lord Madmaheshwar was decorated at the Omkareshwar temple, the winter seat. After which , it left for its destination. Today the doli will make its first night stay at Rakeshwari temple Ransi and tomorrow at Goundar village. On May 20, the doli will leave for its destination from Goundar village.
