Dehradun, 20 Feb: The Central Library of Doon University, in collaboration with the School of Management, successfully organised a comprehensive workshop today on the effective use of the EBSCO database for research scholars and MBA students. The programme was designed to enhance awareness about advanced research tools and to familiarise participants with the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic research and publishing.

The session was conducted by Ritish Kumar Jha, Senior Training Manager at EBSCO Information Services. Delivering an insightful and engaging presentation, he elaborated on advanced search techniques, strategies for identifying high-impact journals, and essential guidelines for publishing quality research articles. He explained how AI is transforming the academic interface of searching by enabling smarter discovery tools, refining search precision, and offering personalised research recommendations.

Jha further demonstrated how AI-driven mechanisms can assist researchers in streamlining literature reviews, identifying research gaps, and analysing trends. Through several national and international case studies of leading business firms, he illustrated how AI-supported research tools are being used for strategic decision-making and business intelligence. His practical examples helped participants understand the direct linkage between academic research methodologies and real-world corporate practices.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from research scholars and MBA students, who showed keen interest in understanding AI-based search mechanisms and their responsible use in academic writing. The interactive session included discussions on ethical considerations, originality in research, and the balanced integration of AI tools in scholarly work.

On the occasion, Head of the Department, School of Management, Prof Gajender Singh, emphasised that in today’s competitive academic and corporate environment, access to authentic and high-quality research databases is indispensable.
