Lok Bhavan,20 Feb: The Foundation Days of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram were celebrated with great enthusiasm at Lok Bhavan, here, today. Organised in the spirit of “Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat,” the programme reflected the ideals of national unity and cultural harmony.
On the occasion, the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of both states and praised the cultural richness and patriotic spirit of the Northeast.
The Governor remarked that geographical distances do not divide us; rather, our diversity enriches the nation. Referring to Arunachal Pradesh’s deep sense of patriotism, he noted with pride that the tradition of greeting one another with “Jai Hind” instead of “Namaste” reflects the state’s strong national sentiment. He also recalled the sacred significance of Tawang and Parshuram Kund.
Appreciating Mizoram’s high literacy rate, civic awareness, and the traditional ‘Cheraw’ dance, he described the state as one that celebrates life even amidst challenging circumstances.
The Governor emphasised that “Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat” is not merely a programme, but a national mission of emotional integration. He stated that the empowerment of border areas forms the foundation of national security. Calling upon the youth, he said that the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” can only be realised when we make “Nation First” our guiding principle and accept diversity as a source of strength rather than division.
On this occasion, guests present listened to the congratulatory messages from the Governors of both states. The highlight of the event was a captivating folk dance performance by students from Arunachal Pradesh and a melodious song presentation by students from Mizoram, portraying a vibrant picture of “Mini India”.
Among those present were Additional Secretary to the Governor, Reena Joshi, Financial Controller and Programme Anchor Dr Tripti Srivastava, along with senior officials and staff members of Lok Bhavan.
