Dehradun, 27 Mar: The Indian Army, in coordination with civil administration and emergency response agencies, successfully conducted the Biennial Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Exercise 2025-27 on 25 and 26 March here at Birpur Cantonment. The exercise aimed to enhance preparedness and strengthen coordination among various agencies to effectively respond to emergencies involving hazardous materials.
The exercise involved joint participation by Army teams, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), civil police, fire brigade, and medical teams. Participants discussed and rehearsed how different agencies would work together during such emergencies, including communication, coordination, and decision-making.
A simulated scenario of a chemical leak at an industrial facility was carried out to practice the response on ground. The Army teams quickly assessed the situation, secured the affected area, and set up facilities to manage contamination. Medical teams conducted casualty evacuation and treatment drills, while SDRF, civil police, and the fire brigade carried out rescue operations, fire-fighting, perimeter security, and crowd management.
The coordinated actions of all agencies demonstrated a high level of preparedness and the ability to effectively manage complex emergency situations. The exercise also provided valuable lessons to further improve coordination and response mechanisms among all participating organisations.
The successful conduct of the Biennial CBRN Exercise 2025-27 reflects the commitment of the Indian Army and civil authorities to ensure public safety and maintain readiness to respond to any CBRN related incident. Joint exercises of this nature play an important role in strengthening cooperation and improving disaster response capabilities.
