Dehradun, 23 Apr: Chief Counsellor of ‘Sankalp Society’, Advocate Ravi Singh Negi is a powerful testament to the idea that the pursuit of knowledge has no expiration date. At the age of 67, a time when many choose the quiet rhythm of retirement, he has achieved a significant academic milestone by earning his Master’s degree in Psychology.

Ravi Singh Negi, a former instructor of the Indian Air Force, is currently a practicing senior lawyer at Dehradun court and an Academic/ Marriage Counsellor. Besides being an educationist, he is an eminent social worker and a writer too. He has authored two books – “Samaj Ka Samaj Ko” and “Vyatha”. In the year 2009 he started publication of the yearly magazine, “Kshatriya Sandesh”, and has been its Chief Editor since then. Its 18th issue was unveiled recently. He writes for Garhwal Post also.

He is a dedicated social worker. He is the founder President of ‘Sankalp Shikshan Avam Kalyan Samiti’, founder General Secretary of ‘Kshatriya Chetna Manch’ and founder General Secretary of ‘Mandir Samiti Sunderwala’. He was the first Marriage Counsellor in the family court, Dehradun where he gave his services for more than 8 years. Under the aegis of ‘Sankalp Society’, he is running Free Academic Counselling services for students and parents for more than 20 years.

His academic journey has been a marathon of degrees and diplomas from various universities, which are Garhwal University, Ajmer University, Bangalore University, Annamalai University, IGNOU, UOU, and other private institutes. His academic qualifications include; MSc (Maths), MA (Sociology), PGDPM, LLB, PGDGC, CNCC, CIG, CTE, BEd, Diploma in Astrology, Diploma in Vaastu and MA (Psychology).

When asked why psychology at this age, he simply responded, “The law and counselling are about people, and people are driven by their psyche. Psychology helps better in deeper understanding of human behaviour and actions.”

Advocate Ravi’s professional journey began with the rigours of the Indian Air Force, where he served as an instructor. The discipline, precision, and dedication required to train airmen laid the groundwork for his future academic pursuits. It was here that he likely developed the “mission-first” mindset that he would later apply to his personal goal of lifelong education. Certainly his Air Force training inspired him to serve the nation first through defence forces and then by dedicating himself towards social service.

He proves that: Learning is Cumulative, engaging in complex subjects like Mathematics and Psychology keeps the mind sharp well into the senior years. He reminds all that as long as there is curiosity, there is a classroom waiting somewhere.

Completing an MA in Psychology in his late sixties is a strategic move for a man who already holds an LLB and various counselling certifications. By merging his legalss background as an Advocate with the deep behavioural insights of a Counsellor, he has positioned himself as a unique resource for the community.

Advocate Negi stands as a role model for both the youth, who may struggle with focus, and seniors, who may feel their time for growth has passed.
