Rishikesh, 12 May: All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh hosted a programme on “Advanced Trauma Care, Organ Donation, and Nursing Excellence”, in which Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated on Tuesday. During the event, he honoured nursing officers for their outstanding service and also recognised organ donors and their families.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said, “Nursing services represent compassion, dedication, and the highest form of human service. Trauma management is crucial, especially during the “golden hour” after an accident, which can significantly reduce mortality rates. Organ donation is one of the greatest acts of humanity, as it gives a new lease of life to others.”

He emphasised that, in a mountainous state like Uttarakhand, effective trauma care systems are especially important.

The Governor also appreciated the efforts of AIIMS Rishikesh in strengthening healthcare services through modern technologies such as helicopter ambulances, telemedicine, artificial intelligence (AI), and drones. He further praised innovations in robotics, diagnostics, ophthalmology, and dental care.

Several dignitaries, medical professionals, and staff members attended the event.
