Dehradun, 12 May: Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj chaired a review meeting at the Development Building Auditorium in Pauri to assess the progress of development projects and public welfare schemes in the Chaubattakhal Assembly constituency.

During the meeting, the Minister directed officials to regularly visit rural areas, listen to public grievances, and ensure their prompt resolution. He emphasised that issues raised by public representatives should be addressed on a priority basis so that people living in remote areas can benefit from government schemes and development works in a timely manner.

The Minister stressed the importance of roads in mountain regions, calling them a “lifeline” for patients, pregnant women, and emergency services. He instructed the Transport Department to expedite surveys and approvals for pending road projects.

The meeting also reviewed forest clearance-related pending cases and directed departments to complete joint inspections and resolve objections by 30 May. Officials informed that: out of 16 Stage-2 approved works, 8 have been completed and 6 are in progress. Of 40 road surfacing projects approved since 2022, 35 have been completed.

Maintenance and disaster-repair works were also reviewed.

The Minister instructed departments to complete ongoing road and infrastructure works before the onset of the monsoon season to avoid inconvenience to the public.

During the health department review, it was noted that only 7 out of 10 sanctioned posts at the Community Health Centre in Satpuli are currently filled. The Minister directed officials to provide details of staffing in regional health centres.
