Haridwar, 31 May: Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, located in Kankhal in the pilgrimage city of Haridwar, is completing its glorious 125 years and entering its 126th year. The Mission’s foundation day will be celebrated with great pomp on Monday, 1 June.

The organisation’s secretary, Swami Dayamurthyananda, said that, after the morning special puja and yagna, there will be Rogi Narayan Seva and Sadhu Samagam. On this occasion, a souvenir of the glorious history of 125 years will be specially unveiled by the dignitaries.

It is worth noting that Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram Kankhal, established on the orders of India’s national saint, Swami Vivekananda, in the name of his guru, is a universal home of service and humanity. Spread across a 17-acre campus, the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram is a place where five saints and skilled doctors work together to treat and care for monks, the sick and the elderly, ascetics and householders, the rich and the poor, from across the country, with great devotion and faith. This hospital is the first of its kind in the state of Uttarakhand, where patients are treated irrespective of caste, creed, language, or colour, with the spirit of “Jeev Seva Hi Shiva Seva”. The Sevashram’s motto is “Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha”, meaning “for one’s own salvation and for the welfare of the world”. Typically, over 800 patients avail themselves of the services at the Sevashram Hospital every day.

Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram is the only hospital in the area where major surgical operations and treatment are free for sadhus and the poor.
