Dehradun, 15 Jun: Dehradun district administration’s ‘Samadhan Diwas’ today emerged as a ray of hope for several distressed families facing financial and social crises. During the public hearing held at the district collectorate, four families appealed for help as their children were suffering from serious ailments including brain tumour, kidney disease and intestinal complications. Acting swiftly on the directions of District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan, the administration facilitated their complete treatment free of cost under the National Child Health Programme (RBSK), ensuring that the children will now receive medical care without any financial burden. It may also be reminded here that the public hearing earlier known as Janata Durbar has been renamed as Samadhan Diwas by District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan.
The hearing was conducted under the guidance of the District Magistrate and chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) KK Mishra. Citizens from across the district registered 146 complaints related to land disputes, illegal possession, encroachment, demarcation, caste certificates and requests for financial assistance. Many cases were resolved on the spot, while others were referred to concerned departments with strict instructions for time-bound action.
The administration took serious note of a complaint from Chharba village where the alleged land mafia were accused of misusing government barren land and threatening the complainant. Immediate orders were issued to the police and tehsil authorities for stern action. In another sensitive case, 84-year-old Raj Kumar of Jamnipur Tapad and 65-year-old Jaswant Singh of Khudbuda narrated how they were assaulted and evicted by their own family members. The SDM and police were directed to investigate promptly and ensure justice for the elderly.
A former district panchayat member raised the issue of a Kendriya Vidyalaya not being opened in Sahia despite land transfer, to which the officials clarified that the matter is under consideration at the government level. Complaints regarding poor road conditions on Sahastradhara Road were addressed with instructions to the executive engineer of the PWD to carry out immediate repairs. Requests for school fee assistance, waiver of water bills and allotment of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana were also taken up, with directions for quick verification and resolution.
ADM Mishra asserted that timely and transparent resolution of public grievances is the administration’s priority and assured that every complaint will be dealt with seriousness. He directed officials to ensure effective and prompt disposal of all matters raised during ‘Samadhan Diwas’.
Among those present at the public hearing included ADM Administration Smrita Parmar, City Magistrate Rajesh Tiwari, SDMs Ravindra Jwantha and Aparna Dhaundiyal, District Development Officer Sunil Kumar, Tehsildar Surendra Dev and other district-level officers.
