55th Regional Sports & Games Meet commences at KVBHEL

Haridwar, 23 Jun: Three-day Chess and Kho-Kho competitions for students of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Dehradun Region began today at Kendriya Vidyalaya BHEL, Haridwar, under the 55th Regional Sports and Games Meet. Nearly 160 students from 24 KVs are participating to compete Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories in the sports events to be held from 23 to 25 June.

The competitions are to be held under the supervision of KVBHEL Haridwar Principal Brijesh Pal Singh. Santosh Gupta, GM (HR), BHEL, declared the event open amongst the sports luminaries by unfurling the Regional Flag. Addressing the gathering, Santosh Gupta highlighted the role of Sports and Games in building the personality and character of the students and extended blessings to every participant.

Earlier, at the outset, Brijesh Pal Singh, Principal of the host school, received the Chief Guest by extending a green welcome. The ceremony formally began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by dignitaries accompanied by the soothing chants of Sanskrit shlokas. This was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony by the participants, which was administered by Rudransh Gupta of KV Champavat. The ceremony witnessed a colourful dance and song presentation by the students guided and trained by KVBHEL’s Aparna Tewari and Prerna Patwal

The colours of jerseys, the palpable energy, and the collective pride made a spectacle as KV Srinagar and KVITBP Gauchar showcased an intense clash in the very first match of the day setting the ground for the forthcoming tournaments.

The programme was coordinated and compered by Aparna Tewari, In charge Co-Curricular Activities. Parul Saini, Hina Negi, Loveleena Choudhary, and Manisha were also present.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Rajni Singh and the first day of the meet saw its culmination with the National Anthem.
