Kotdwar, 12 Jul:  Assembly Speaker and Kotdwar MLA Ritu Khanduri Bhushan today claimed that the work on the proposed Laldhang-Chillarkhal Road would begin soon. This is a much awaited road project considered strategically vital for Garhwal region. The proposal for building this road which exists as a kuchcha road has been hanging fire for a long time. Several announcements in this respect have been made in the past including an active pursuance of the project by former Minister and currently a senior Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat but the project could not be launched due to judicial intervention and lack of environmental clearance.

Bhushan today announced that the long-pending project is now on the verge of commencement. She said that the approval for this crucial road, which will connect the entire Garhwal area, has been secured through the collective efforts of the people, the public representatives and administrative officials. The construction of this route is expected to give a major boost to connectivity and accelerate development in the region.

Reviewing preparations for the upcoming monsoon season, the Speaker assured that Kotdwar area is fully geared to tackle challenges posed by heavy rains. She stated that directions have already been issued to officials to prevent waterlogging, landslides and other potential disasters so that the public does not face inconvenience. The announcement has raised hopes among the residents that the long-standing demand for improved road connectivity will finally be fulfilled, while also reinforcing confidence in the administration’s readiness to safeguard the region during the monsoon.

Once this road is completed, it can eliminate the need to pass through UP to travel between Dehradun and Kotdwar or Dehradun and Lansdowne.
