Dehradun, 16 Jul: BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt today stated that the students interacting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Dehradun tomorrow should also ask him about the recruitment scams that took place during Congress governments in Uttarakhand.

Responding to media queries, Bhatt alleged that the Congress had laid the foundation for irregularities in the state’s recruitment system and questioned whether Rahul Gandhi had ever acknowledged the alleged scams during Congress rule. He referred to alleged irregularities in Sub-Inspector, Patwari, BDO, SIDCUL, Ayurveda University and Technical University recruitments, claiming these controversies had emerged during Congress governments and had resulted in investigations, cancelled examinations and loss of public confidence.

Bhatt alleged that during the Congress regime, recruitment processes were marred by corruption and favouritism, with several cases being investigated by agencies, including the CBI and SIT. He claimed the UKSSSC VPDO recruitment examination held during the Harish Rawat government also came under investigation, leading to the arrest of several officials.

Contrasting the BJP government’s approach, Bhatt reminded that that when the UKSSSC recruitment scam surfaced during Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s tenure, the government did not suppress the matter but acted decisively. He said the state enacted what he described as the country’s toughest anti-copying law, leading to the arrest of more than 100 members of cheating and recruitment mafias. He added that the government has introduced comprehensive reforms to ensure transparency in recruitment and claimed that more than 34,000 youths had secured government jobs through transparent processes over the past four years.
