Dehradun, 16 Jul: On the occasion of Uttarakhand’s folk festival Harela, a plantation drive under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was organised at PIB Dehradun. Renowned playwright SP Mamgain presented a Malabar sapling to PIB, and on the occasion a collective pledge was taken for environmental protection. Speaking on the occasion, Mamgain noted that Harela is a sacred symbol of faith, gratitude and commitment towards nature and environment, inspiring us to build a green, clean and prosperous future for coming generations.
Media Communication Officer Anil Datt Sharma emphasised that on this auspicious occasion everyone should plant at least one tree, pledge to protect it and ensure their participation in building a clean, green and prosperous Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, at the National Skill Training Institute, Dehradun, ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ was inaugurated. Organised nationwide from 16 to 31 July 2026 under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, New Delhi and Directorate General of Training, the programme saw enthusiastic participation of NSTI and NIESBUD officials, employees and trainees. All participants reiterated their commitment to maintaining cleanliness and spreading the spirit of Swachh Bharat Mission to every citizen. A special selfie booth was also set up where participants took photographs to promote awareness and encourage public involvement in the campaign.
At the conclusion of the programme, officials, employees and trainees pledged to keep their institutions, workplaces and surroundings clean, green and beautiful, and expressed their commitment to actively contribute to building a clean, healthy and sustainable India. During the fortnight, various activities related to cleanliness, environmental protection and public awareness will be organised at NSTI Dehradun to further strengthen the sense of social responsibility towards sanitation.
