Dehradun, 21 Jul: BJP State Media In-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan today claimed that the stringent anti-copying law introduced in Uttarakhand keeping in view the future of the youth has proven to be highly effective and that paper leaks are now a thing of the past in the State. During an informal interaction with the media persons at the party’s state headquarters here today, he said the BJP respects the protest organised by the Uttarakhand Unemployed Association over various recruitment examinations and employment-related demands, adding that in a democracy every citizen had the right to put forward his or her views in a peaceful and constitutional manner.
Chauhan asserted that the BJP government is fully sensitive to the aspirations of the youth and is taking forward employment generation as one of its highest priorities.
He said the youth had lost faith in the recruitment system during the Congress governments because of corruption, nepotism and irregularities in recruitment examinations. However, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the BJP government has taken historic steps to ensure transparency, fairness and accountability in the recruitment process.
Chauhan said the action taken under the anti-copying law has dealt a severe blow to the examination mafia. Several accused had been arrested and stringent punishment had been ensured against those who attempted to play with the future of the youth. He claimed that recruitment examinations in Uttarakhand are now being conducted in a transparent environment and with greater confidence among the candidates.
He said more than 40,000 young people have been provided government jobs in various departments during the tenure of the Dhami government. Recruitment processes had been continuously conducted in departments including education, police, health, forests and the Secretariat, as well as through the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) and the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. He said that wherever recruitment processes have faced legal or technical hurdles, the government has made efforts to resolve them at the earliest.
Chauhan said the government’s focus is not limited merely to government jobs, as equal priority is also being given to self-employment and entrepreneurship. Through initiatives including the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme, Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme, the State’s startup policy, homestay scheme, Lakhpati Didi campaign and self-help groups, thousands of young people and women had received opportunities for employment, self-employment and economic self-reliance.
He said the government is seriously considering the various issues raised by the Unemployed Association. Recruitment processes that are already under way would be completed within the stipulated time in accordance with the rules, while action is being taken on the basis of departmental proposals wherever fresh recruitment is required. He said the government’s objective is to ensure transparent, fair and time-bound appointments.
Appealing to the unemployed youth to exercise restraint and not become part of misleading politics, Chauhan urged them to maintain faith in the government. He said the Uttarakhand Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is fully committed to protecting the interests of the youth and that it is ensuring a transparent recruitment system and creating the maximum possible employment opportunities in the State.
