Dehradun, 21 Jul: Harela is the festival of greenery and prosperity and inspires Environment Conservation in Doon Valley. On this occasion, AAGAAS provided 100 medicinal plants including – Varuna (Creteva nurvala), Kutaj (Holarrhena antidysantria) and Kachnar (Bauhinia purpurea) to ATS Heavenly Foothills on Sahastradhara Road. These plants were provided under the AAGAAS – CSR project supported by Jivanti Welfare and Charitable Trust (JWCT) / Dabur India Ltd. The massive plantation drive moved ahead under the leadership of Ajay Singh (President of RWA- ATS Heavenly Foothills Colony).
Also the team of Biotourism Park, Pipalkoti, Chamoli, along with the trainers of Seed Bomb team Jaydeep Kishore and Dilbar Singh developed 1000 seed bomb for the schools of Joshimath and Dasholi Block of Chamoli Garhwal. Jaydeep stated, “This year, we are planning to distribute 10,000 seed bombs for more than 6 Van Panchayats, 10 schools and Nagar Panchayat Pipalkoti. This seed bomb programme is a joint effort of AAGAAS Federation and JAADI NGO, Uttarkashi, without any governmen support.”
The Chairperson of AAGAAS Federation also organised a plantation drive on the link road in between FRI back gate to Nimbuwala Chowk, Canal Street area. JP Maithani stated that, on the occasion of Harela, many of the environment activists participated in organising Black Harela, but he along with the team of the student interns of UPES, Dehradun, organised Green Harela and planted more than 50 plants on the Canal Street road of Kaulagarh.
Maithani added that provision of tree guards would be insured within a week so that these plants survive. Amita Mehta, Abhay Mishra, RCS Bisht, RC Sharma, Shailesh Tiwari, RL Verma, Bhaskar Bhatt, Sunil Sharma, Hemant Gaur, LM Pant, Dr Dinesh Kandwal, Rajkumar Goyal, Puneet Gupta, Manisha Verma, Aruna Singh, Priyanka, Vidhi, Vanshika, Deepshikha, Manisha Trivedi, Varsha Pant and Sumit Goyal actively participated in the plantation drive at ATS Colony. Under the seed bomb making programme, Mamata Devi, Reena Devi, Anita Devi, Jamuna Devi, Bhupendra Kumar, Jaydeep Kishore and Dilbar Singh participated actively along with the UPES intern team in Dehradun – Pragati Chamoli, Urvashi Pandey, Shabd Arora, Sanvi Gupta, Poojan and Kaushal.
