Two drug peddlers arrested in Doon with Ketamine worth over Rs 15 lakhs

Dehradun, 27 Jul: In a significant operation against narcotics, the Special Task Force (STF) and Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested two drug peddlers in the Selakui area and seized 1.521 kilograms of ketamine concealed in the dickey of a scooter. The contraband is valued at more than Rs 15 lakhs in the international market. The arrests have yielded vital clues about the supply chain and the wider drug network, and further investigation is underway to identify sources and other individuals involved.
SSP, STF, Ajai Singh stated that acting on specific inputs, the STF team along with Selakui police carried out a joint operation and apprehended the accused. The drug was identified on the spot as ketamine by the drug inspector present with the team. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused were on their way to deliver the consignment near an orchard in Khairi village to an unidentified person. Based on this information, the police have launched a detailed probe into the supply chain, its origin and other associates.
The arrested peddlers have been identified as Shubham Kumar, son of Rajesh Kumar, resident of Jamnpur, Selakui, Dehradun, and Ankit Tiwari, son of Dinesh, resident of Nagla Kallu, Shahabad Dehat, Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, currently residing in Selakui, Dehradun. Along with the ketamine, the police have also seized a TVS Jupiter scooter and two mobile phones from the accused. A case has been registered at Selakui police station under sections 8/22(C)/29/60 of the NDPS Act, and statutory proceedings are in progress.
The STF has appealed to the public to stay away from drugs and not to fall into the trap of trafficking for greed. Citizens have been urged to immediately inform the nearest police station or STF/ANTF Uttarakhand if they come across any information regarding drug trafficking or illegal narcotics activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. Singh reiterated that under the ‘Drugs Free Devbhoomi’ campaign, the STF and ANTF will continue to take tough and sustained action against drug peddlers and organised narcotics networks.
