Dehradun, 29 Jul: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Kuldeep Chaudhary along with his associates formally joined the Congress Party at the State Congress Headquarters here today in the presence of Pradesh Election Campaign Committee President Pritam Singh. After joining the Congress, the leaders expressed confidence in the policies of the Congress party and in the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
Accompanied by Rohit Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Sanjay Singh and Anil Bhatia, Chaudhary announced his decision to leave the Aam Aadmi Party and accept Congress membership.
Pradesh Congress spokesperson Dr Pratima Singh later shared the details with the media. She stated that those who had left the Aam Aadmi Party were welcomed into the Congress fold with garlands and were administered party membership by Pritam Singh.
Pritam Singh emphasised that the Congress is a democratic party which respects all the religions, all the communities, classes and castes. He said the Congress has worked not only in politics but also as a social reformer since Independence, giving society a new direction.
Pritam Singh also claimed that other parties have done little beyond making false promises during Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He assured that the Congress will continue to protect the interests of those workers who stood by the party during difficult times while also strengthening the larger Congress family. Singh also reminded that Kuldeep Chaudhary had earlier been a ‘strong’ Congress worker and that his return, along with his associates, would undoubtedly strengthen the organisation. He added that this development will certainly benefit the party in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
